Dragon Dance Class

May 6, 2017

On the first of May, Colette gave a superb class themed the Dragon Dance. We sweated and moved for 50 minutes to warm up and practice all the elements separately until our bodies were ready to complete the entire series. What a great full body and mind workout, we hope to do it again soon.

Sun Saluta-thon

March 5, 2017

On Monday and Friday mornings from 6:55- 7:30, Matthys hosts a Sun Saluta-thon. Working by yourself, on your own pace, we warm up and then do a series of sun salutes. No instruction, no talking, each person going by themselves…

Your mat can get a bit stinky if you do not clean it often enough. Here are a few tips:

DO clean your mat at least weekly with a homemade spray or store bought wipes.

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup white vinegar
2 to 3 drops each of essential oils like eucalyptus, lemon, lavender, mint, or tea tree

Pour the ingredients into a spray bottle. Spray your yoga mat cleaner liberally over the surface of your mat. If your mat seems especially dirty, let the cleanser sit and soak in a bit before rubbing it off.
Wipe the yoga mat with a microfiber or cotton cloth. Now repeat on the other side.
Allow your mat to air dry, which should take only about 5 to 10 minutes. If it takes longer, try rubbing your mat down one more time with a dry microfiber or cotton cloth to remove the excess water and speed up the drying time.

Wash your mat once a month in a bath or washing machine (gentle cycle)

DON’T use tons of soap; it can make the mat slippery.

DON’T hang your mat out in the sun. Hanging your mat in the sun might sound like a good idea, but it could really dry out your mat.
